Mandylor’s first major role was as a European Jew in the 1989 film Triumph of the Spirit, which was shot at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. Costas then returned to Los Angeles, where he met director Oliver Stone and auditioned for the role of an Italian count in The Doors. Later, he landed a leading role as Mafia boss Frank Costello in Mobsters. From 2006 to 2010, the actor played Detective Mark Hoffman in all SAW films, beginning in 1992.
